We
had a great turnout for the Relay for Life “Parade” today (4/26/08). Jim
Robinson, in his ’76 Firebird, led us in promptly at 2:00p.m. He had contact
via cell phone with his wife Verlynn who did a great job as always. He was followed by (not necessarily in this
order) “Bo” Bosarge – 65 Chevelle, Ronnie & Faye Goldman – ‘66 Chevelle SS,
Joey & Jessica Hiatt – ’55 Chevy
BelAir, Kelvin & Jennifer Hiatt – ’57 Chevy
BelAir, Carl & Sheila Hunter – ’68 Chevelle, Jeff & April Hunter –’73
Ford F-100, Mike Kennedy - ’63-1/2 Ford Galaxie, Robert & Dianne Moulds –
’56 Chevy BelAir, Ronnie Robinson - ’67
Chevelle, Baker & Louise Fleming – 05 Mustang Conv. and I (Mert Coffin)
brought up the rear in Mattie’s 40 Ford P/U. We made a loop around the roadway
that circles the area that was being used for the Relay activities and then
parked in an area that had been reserved for us.
Gawain Daugherty – ’71 Chevelle, came in a
short time later. He and Kay live in Collinsville so he had been held up by the
changing weather. We appreciate him driving all the way down here to help
support the cause.
Lots of folks came by looking at and asking
questions about the vehicles. We appreciate their interest, It seems that most
everyone has had “one just like that” at one time or another. Unfortunately I
didn’t bring my camera, ergo, no pictures. I’ll put it in the truck one of these
days. I left soon after the sprinkles started, so I’m not sure how long folks
were there.
If anyone has any pictures or comments to add please contact me – Thanks
